During His visit to Hastinapura, Lord Krishna chose not to stay in the royal palace of Duryodhana, even though he offered grand hospitality. Instead, Krishna went to the humble home of Vidura, His pure devotee and minister of the Kuru court.

Vidura was not at home when the Lord arrived, but his wife was overjoyed to see Krishna at their doorstep. She was overwhelmed with love and devotion, and wanted to serve Him something immediately.

In her excitement, she brought bananas to offer. But so absorbed was she in Krishna’s beautiful form, that she peeled the bananas and absentmindedly offered the peels to Him—throwing the fruit away.

Yet Krishna, the Lord of the Universe, lovingly accepted and ate the banana peels, because they were offered with pure devotion. For Him, the love mattered more than the item itself.

When Vidura returned and saw this divine scene, he was moved to tears. He understood that the Lord accepts even the smallest offering, if it is given with a sincere and loving heart.

From Bhagavad Gita 9.26 — which perfectly matches the essence of this story:

पत्रं पुष्पं फलं तोयं यो मे भक्त्या प्रयच्छति ।
तदहं भक्त्युपहृतम् अश्नामि प्रयतात्मन: ॥

patraṁ puṣpaṁ phalaṁ toyaṁ yo me bhaktyā prayacchati
tad ahaṁ bhakty-upahṛtam aśnāmi prayatātmanaḥ

Translation:
“If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, fruit or water, I will accept it.”

This verse directly reflects how Krishna joyfully accepted even banana peels, simply because they were offered with pure devotion.

Now it’s your turn!
This story touched my heart deeply and reminded me that Krishna values love, not luxury.
